Biography

Dr. Enrique Acosta, is a board-certified pediatric dentist, healthcare executive, educator, and entrepreneur who has dedicated more than three decades to improving children’s oral health. As the Founder and President of Pediatric Dental Centers of Florida (PDC), he leads one of South Florida’s largest pediatric dental and orthodontic organizations, providing comprehensive care to thousands of children and families each year.

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Acosta earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana before pursuing advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry. He completed a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the University of Puerto Rico and subsequently completed a prestigious Fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry at Columbia University in New York City, where he further refined his expertise in the treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs.

Committed to lifelong learning and leadership development, Dr. Acosta later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Miami. His unique combination of clinical excellence and business education has allowed him to successfully bridge the worlds of healthcare delivery, organizational leadership, and strategic growth.

Dr. Acosta is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a distinction that reflects the highest level of achievement in the specialty. Board certification demonstrates a commitment to excellence, continuous education, and the delivery of evidence-based pediatric dental care.

In addition to his clinical accomplishments, Dr. Acosta has made significant contributions to dental education. He served as an Assistant Professor at Temple University School of Dentistry, where he trained and mentored future dentists and pediatric dental specialists. His passion for education continued throughout his career as he worked to advance pediatric dental training and improve access to care for underserved populations.

One of Dr. Acosta’s most notable professional achievements was his role as Co-Founder and Assistant Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. Through this program, he helped train the next generation of pediatric dentists while expanding access to specialized dental care for children throughout South Florida. His work in residency education has had a lasting impact on both the profession and the communities served by the program’s graduates.

In 2005, Dr. Acosta founded Pediatric Dental Centers of Florida with a vision of creating a patient-centered organization focused on clinical excellence, accessibility, compassion, and community service. Under his leadership, PDC has grown into a multi-location pediatric dental and orthodontic network serving families across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The organization provides preventive, restorative, orthodontic, sedation, hospital-based, and special-needs dentistry services in a child-friendly environment designed specifically for young patients.

As Founder and President, Dr. Acosta oversees the organization’s clinical standards, governance structure, provider development, compliance programs, and long-term strategic direction. He works closely with leadership teams to ensure that every location maintains the highest standards of patient safety, quality assurance, operational efficiency, and ethical care.

Today, Pediatric Dental Centers serves tens of thousands of children annually and has become a trusted provider for families throughout South Florida, including many Medicaid-supported communities. Dr. Acosta remains deeply committed to expanding access to care, reducing barriers to treatment, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve optimal oral health regardless of socioeconomic background.

Throughout his career, Dr. Acosta has been guided by a simple philosophy: every child deserves access to high-quality dental care delivered with compassion, respect, and clinical excellence.
